Protection and Emergency Services Search and Rescue and Public SecuritySearch and RescueProtection and Emergency Services coordinates and administers ground search and rescue activities in the province, with the exception of those managed by the RCMP. The Branch works closely with the Search and Rescue Saskatchewan Association of Volunteers to provide volunteers with training opportunities in ground search and rescue, and emergency management. Volunteers may be called upon to assist police agencies in searching for lost or missing persons, or to provide support to local communities during emergencies or disasters. Public SecurityThe Ministry works in cooperation with the federal government, which is responsible for providing current information affecting public security, including for Canadians traveling outside the country, and alerts about possible terrorist threats. In cases of travel advisories or an identified terrorist threat, federal agencies sources will notify CPSP and inform the public. The Ministry maintains close contact with the federal government on public security matters, and coordinates counter-terrorism planning and preparedness for the province. |
