Protection and Emergency Services Branch is responsible for coordinating overall provincial emergency planning, training and response operations for the safety of Saskatchewan residents, and for the protection of property and the environment before, during and after an emergency or a disaster. It is responsible for delivering programming and services in the following areas:

Grass fires can start quickly, spread rapidly and burn very hot, making them especially dangerous. Read more about some things you can do to help protect your home.

Sometimes you will need to burn grass, bush piles or stubble.  Please be sure you are well-prepared and that you have fire guards in place.  These “controlled burns” should also be reported.

Building Standards promotes the construction of safe, healthy, habitable buildings with assistance to owners, industry, municipalities, building officials and other code users. This link provides access to information about building standards programs and services.

The OFC provides programs and services to enhance public safety in the province including: fire service and emergency management training; fire service certification; fire investigation and reporting; public education in fire safety and emergency preparedness; technical services; and emergency operational response. The OFC also manages the Sask911 system and the Provincial Public Safety Telecommunications Network.

Sask911 supports and manages 9-1-1 emergency call-taking in the province. Find answers to common questions here. Access informational pamphlets about the service in several languages, and a Teachers' Guide on Emergency Service for Kindergarten to Grade 3 students through this link.

The PPSTN is a province-wide, P25, public safety radio system that enables participating public safety agencies to communicate with each other using state-of-the-art technology. To learn more about PPSTN and the support being offered to users, or to access forms and training information, follow this link.

SaskEMO supports emergency preparedness and coordinates provincial government resources during emergencies.

The Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP) is designed to help residents, small businesses, agricultural operations, communal organizations, nonprofit organizations, parks and communities recover from the effects of natural disasters, including flooding, tornadoes, plow winds and other severe weather.

Search and Rescue coordinates most ground searches in the province, and works closely with the volunteers who assist with search and rescue activities. In cooperation with the federal government, Public Security provides timely information to the public, such as travel advisories and alerts about possible terrorism threats.
